Sports Direct Limassol is a large-format retail development in Agios Athanasios, Limassol, housing one of the UK sportswear brand’s flagship stores on the island.

The building comprises three floors above ground and one basement level, with a total footprint designed to accommodate the brand’s signature high-volume retail layout. The programme includes ground-floor retail with full-height glazed frontage, an upper trading floor, and back-of-house ancillary spaces.

The superstructure is a steel frame with a clear span of 16 metres across the full width of the building — eliminating internal columns from the retail floors and delivering the unobstructed space essential for large-format retail fit-out. Floor plates are composite construction, using profiled metal deck with mesh reinforcement and in-situ concrete topping acting compositely with the steel beams. A reinforced concrete core accommodates vertical circulation and provides lateral stability in combination with the steel frame. Foundations consist of isolated pad footings. The external envelope is a metal sandwich panel system finished in the brand’s characteristic blue and grey palette.

ASD provided full structural design services for the steel-framed superstructure, composite floor system, and RC foundation works. The project was developed by Zavos Group, with architecture by Lazarou & Michael Partner Architects.
